chest pain
In the last five years or so I have experianced a few episodes of chest pain, which have mainly occurred during the night. I wake up with a mild ache in my sternal area, but it gradually increases in intensity. I will take an antacid like maalox and it will usually subside. A year ago or so, the pain actually brought me to my knees. But within a short time, it dissapeared. Last week, after I had experianced a few days of the stomach flu(mainly diarrhea), I awoke with this at 2:00 a.m. I took maalox, but it didn't help at all. It just kept increasing in strength.It was a feeling of twisting or heavy pressure in my chest(again the sternal area) radiating through to my back even. I ended up going to the hospital by ambulance. Once the EMT gave me 4 baby aspirin and a nitro, it just dissapeared! After some blood work, a chest x-ray, an EKG, I was diagnosed with REFLUX! Has anyone else experianced these symptoms? I was put on prevacid, but I still fear another episode of this pain!
