Indigestion
Diagnosis and Treatment
The best method for treating indigestion is to identify the underlying cause, and eliminate it from the diet or otherwise remedy the situation. Often, eating leisurely, chewing food thoroughly, and only taking aspirin and other medications on a full stomach can alleviate the problem. Antacids may also relieve discomfort, but if the problem persists, a physician should be consulted. A physician may attempt to identify the underlying problem via blood tests, X-rays, endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, upper gastrointestinal series, or other such tests.
